Director, Shooter, Editor - Forbes

Documentary

Forbes was one of my first official film/video jobs. I shot and was mentored by an award-winning journalist named Simon Constable who taught me no corner was worth cutting and who allowed me to make the visuals impact the story as much as possible. For example, when I realized the information we were delivering had become increasingly complex, I changed our format to black and white to minimize distractions away from the information.

This series is the basis for the rest of my career. It taught me that I can shoot anything, anywhere, and with anyone and no matter what I can't help but make the visuals memorable.

Finance is, on paper, quite a boring subject (no offense, Simon!), but I made it exciting. Shooting outside on the streets of NYC alone (I did camera, lighting, and sound) is at best harrowing. On top of it all, getting interviews with people who (in Simon's words) "are worth more money than God" made me understand you can get any interview on the planet if you can prove you will make someone look good and show them you understand how to tell stories.
